At Blue Sky Plumbing and Heating, we love Colorado and we are invested in protecting its beauty and resources for future generations. Blue Sky’s owner, Steve Lanyon, is a Colorado Master Plumber certified as a Green Plumber by Green Plumbers USA. (The GreenPlumbers ® training and accreditation program results in increased water and energy savings for consumers and businesses across America.) We offer energy-efficient and water-saving products and advice to all our customers, commercial or residential. Colorado has been our home for 4 generations and we are committed to its environmental future and land conservation.

Steve became aware of this organization after signing a petition at an Evergreen grocery store that M.A.L.T. was presenting for another land acquisition. The fact the M.A.L.T. was a local group making a positive and physical change in mountain communities drew him to the cause.

The Mountain Area Land Trust conserved
1,629 acres in 2007, 980 acres in 2008, 1,300 acres in 2009 and 1,094 in 2010.

Blue Sky has been financially supporting the cause for six years and is proud to announce that we will once again, sponsor the non-profit group Mountain Area Land Trust in 2011. It’s easy for us to support this locally based,  land conservation organization. They facilitate the preservation of our irreplaceable open spaces and vistas by working with landowners and various agencies.  This is a win-win:  we support a local organization and they make it possible for us to enjoy these open spaces in Conifer and Evergreen and continue to save historic lands for future generations.

Disaster struck during a late-season snowstorm which caused power surges and damaged the company’s server. It took half a day to rebuild the data before we could resume serving our customers. Using Food to Change the Lives of Women in Poverty

Blue Sky Plumbing & Heating is proud to be associated with this unique and successful organization. We support the cause to lift women out of poverty and train them to enter the workforce with marketable skills and experience.  AND… we’re pleased to announce our second year as a Foodie Sponsor at the 7th Annual WomenCook! Event on May 2, 2011.

Blue Sky became aware of this non-profit three years ago through friends. We were drawn to Work Options for Women through the dynamic people involved and the special focus of their mission. Steve (owner of Blue Sky) was very touched by the personal stories of struggle and despair these women have shared and how Work Options for Women has provided the support, training, counseling and experience they need for real life success and hope.

We recommend that you to try the terrific food at Cafe Options where W. O. W. chefs show off their skills in downtown Denver (1650 Curtis Street, 303-573-0733). “Everything is made right here:  like house-roasted meats and freshly-baked pastries. We even make our own pickles and mustard!”  It’s fun and delicious – try the amazing soups, the fresh entrees and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Welcome to our very first blog post! Blue Sky Plumbing & Heating has just launched its updated website to share our expertise, service values and commitment to the environment. We thought it only fitting with this inaugural post that we promote our values by calling attention to an even more important event: Earth Day, April 22, 2011.

The organizers hope to register one billion “acts of green” between now and the Earth Day Summit in Rio, 2012. A Billion Acts of Green® inspires and rewards simple individual acts and larger organizational initiatives that further the goal of measurably reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainability.

Blue Sky is committed to acting responsibly and preserving the environment.

Our company name, Blue Sky, is a tribute to our 300+ days of sunshine here in Colorado as well as our conviction to conserve water, save energy and maintain the natural beauty of our environment.
